Offers extensive services to families including child care referrals, workshops and information about quality care. Providers and businesses receive technical aid, continuing education workshops, program management and library use.

Child Care Subsidy and Administration
Provides financial assistance for child care so parents can work outside the home, which improves the family’s quality of life. This program allows more children of low-income families to receive high-quality child care.

Into the Mouths of Babes
Promotes the prevention of tooth decay among infants and children by providing screenings and fluoride varnish to the teeth of at-risk children to age 3. Also provides parent and caregiver education on children’s dental health issues.

Funds the placement of at-risk 4-year-olds into the public school program designed to prepare the children for success in kindergarten. Emphasis is placed on literacy, numbers, fine and gross motor skill development and problem solving. Numerous studies have shown that students in high quality pre-kindergarten programs are more likely to succeed in grades K-12.

Parents as Teachers
Reinforces parents as children’s first and foremost teachers and provides home visits, group meetings, functional developmental assessments and connections to community resources.

Resource Lending Library
Provides a valuable source of educational materials for educators and parents of young children in Richmond County. All of the 3,000 books, play items, art utensils and educational materials are designed for children from birth to age 5 or their teachers, parents or grandparents. Sandhills Children’s Center
Offers educational, healthcare and therapeutic services to children birth to age 5 who have developmental disabilities. The Center also consults with parents and teachers on therapy goals, adaptive equipment and communication materials.

Bilingual Health Check Coordinator
Increases participation of all families in Health Check and educates them about the importance of preventive healthcare. Encourages a family-doctor relationship outside of the emergency department.
